Jesus prays for you. This is self evident in John 17:17-20, especially vs. 20. Since God Himself is praying for us, it is fascinating to look at what He asks of the Father for us.
17 "Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth."
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
Wow!
Jesus asks the Father to Sanctify us in His word which is truth. The dictionary defines "to Sanctify": "set apart as or declare holy; consecrate."! Jesus wants us to be set apart and consecrated for holy purposes.
Jesus has sent us into the world on a missionary journey, just as He himself came to earth for us - the Missionary God.
This is for ALL believers for ALL time. How do they become believers throughout time? "...through their word..."
What is the result? "that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you..."
Why? What is the purpose for all of this? "so that the world may believe that you have sent me (Christ)".
We are all missionaries, called to bring the Word of God to "the world" in unity (a team) so that the world may believe.
God has put this desire in our hearts. We believe He has called us to do this in Guatemala, by God's design, for knowledge, preparation and plan.
Jesus prays for us to be His witnesses to the world by the sanctifying work of His holy Word. WOW.
